Dear Kate (‘Tibbey’), As you will remember, we only met together once at Brian Wilson's house in Auckland 40+ years ago, when my wife Fien and I were near the end of our world-tour honeymoon and about to return to my ‘oil’ job in Brunei. Since then we've exchanged letters with you and Alec at Xmas from a wide variety of other countries. Brian (& his wife Geraldine) still live in the same house in Auckland). He and I are cousins (and very active at 80+ and ‘80 next month’ respectively). We are both relatives on the Tibbey/Rowson/Morris family tree, this branch of which seems to have originated around the 1600’s in the general Church Pulverbatch area of Shropshire UK, just a few miles due south of Shrewsbury, as you very well know. You may (or may not) be aware that the above Rowson tree (with numerous Tibbey & Morris branches) is available on the Internet www.myrichardsons.info/?surname=rowson The site has the suggestion : repeat the search with the omitted results included This latter instruction leads to a huge number of pages, names & trees which will probably be of great interest to a number of readers of your message. I’ve not done much from my side to update the tree lately (apart from avoiding falling off it!) – too busy to find time, as yet, and I am only recently back from a business trip to India. Alec was a great writer with a lovely sense of fun and we still have some a number of your letters on file from years ago. Our sincerest condolences to you, Kate and family, at the loss of a truly fine man, husband and father. Norman and Fien Edwards

Dearest Kate, you will know by now how desperately sad I was to hear not only of your own leg problem but also of how seriously ill Alec was and now of his death. Aud & Mike are not on the internet but I am keeping them up-to-date and have told Pete Wheen; what memories of those 2 years in BAOR and my time in Celle with you and the Foresters. Remember how the lads came down to the mess, Tony with his Crunchies and Alec constantly whistling and, of course, vying to get the front room all to ourselves......! Hope you have by now got the flowers which, of course, come with ALL OUR LOVE and we will constantly keep in touch. Jane has been marvellous alerting me and I shall give her a buzz next week. Thank goodness for your girls. God bless you, Mary

We were truly sorry that we weren't able to be in NZ for Granddad's funeral, but we watched from Hong Kong, and the service was so touching, a tribute to Gramps. We will always have great memories of Granddad, sitting at the table making us roar with laughter with the strange noises he makes with his mouth, and making us scream when he jumped out at us from behind trees and bushes. He was always able to stay calm and provide us with security and support when we needed it. Our dogs Poppet and Tommy both adored him, he was always such a big kid with them, marching them up Cloudy Hill every time he came to visit. We will always love him, and miss him, and we send all our love to the rest of the family in New Zealand.
