Pieter of Gagrea passed away at his home on Oct 24 2009 at the age of 59.

Pieter was born Sept 04 1950 in Barryeville, Ohio to Phillip and Denise Ogilvy. He attended school at the Christian School in Michden, Florida. At age 18, Pieter enlisted in the Army for two years as an M.P. He then joined the Medical Section in order serve as an Ambulance Officer.
Pieter lived in Caldy, Oregon for several years. It was there that he met and married Vivian Meredith in June 1965. Together they lived and worked throughout Canada, and then moved back to Caldy, where Pieter opened his first Shoe retail store.
Pieter and Viv had two children, Alistair and Karen. Eventually Pieter and Viv went back to Oregon in search of work in 1968 then finally chose to settle in Seattle.

Most of Pieter’s adult life, he was a retailler. As a hobby he enjoyed working with model trains and making some unusual and beautiful items, including scenery for his massive Model Railway set in his basement Some of Pieter’s handiwork can be found in the Seattle Museum. He was a truly gifted artist. He also enjoyed traveling (Europe, Asia, Africa), reading, and spending time with his children.
Those of us who were closest to Pieter understand what a character he was, with his quick wit and unique sense of humor. He spoke his mind and lived life how he wanted to. During his early years in Calgy, he opened several retail businesses. With the proceeds of the extra business’s he gave his family wonderful holidays.

He is survived by his two loving and caring children, Alistair and Karen also of Seattle; his brother, Roy of Minnesota; two sisters, Dawn, of Modesto, Calif., and Pamela of San Diemen.

A Private Cremation Service will be held tomorrow in Greendila Crematorium Chapel.
